Confirmation

It is a three year program designed to build group identity through a three-legged stool design of: 1) learning 2) service and 3) fellowship. The material that we use is from Faith Inkubators. Confirmation classes meet on 16 Wednesdays from September through May from 6:00 – 7:30. The program is open to students grades 6th - 8th.

This program year (2008-2009) we are working on the Ten commandments, Martin Luther, and Confessing, Confirming, and Claiming my calling.

Confirmation students, it will be a busier April as we try to finish up our unit on Martin Luther. We have a small group session on Wednesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. starting in the Hoffmeister Room. Don’t forget to bring soup with you (if you want to). We will have confirmation classes on April 22 and 29 at 6 p.m. There will be no confirmation classes in May, but there will be several events.

SPECIAL EVENTS IN MAY

THURSDAY, MAY 14,6 P.M. - CONFIRMATION BANQUET
All confirmation students are invited to the Confirmation Banquet, honoring our soon to be
confirmed students. This banquet is hosted by 7th grade parents. This will be their opportunity to share their Statement of Faith with the class before presenting it to the congregation. This will also be 6th and 7th graders’ chance to thank the 8th graders for being part of the program.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 6 P.M.- ORIENTATION SESSION
There will be a special Orientation session for next year’s sixth graders and their parents to learn more about Confirmation and our Middle School ministry. Pizza and soda will be provided. At 6:30 p.m. this year’s sixth and seventh graders invite the incoming sixth graders to enjoy a dessert out with our C.H.A.O.S. leader, Kirk Karlstrom. Middle School parents will be meeting in the Hoffmeister Room to discuss the coming year’s program. Please let Pastor Roger or Karyn Miller know if your fifth grader and you will be able to attend.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 27,6 P.M.-PIZZA & REHEARSAL
There will be a pizza party and Confirmation rehearsal. We will be rehearsing for the Affirmation of Baptism for our new confirmands, to be held Sunday, May 31.
