Grace Lutheran Church's 100th Anniversary 

Grace Lutheran Church is celebrating it's 100th Anniversary this year, 2011.

On Sunday, September 18, 2011, we commemorated our 100th Anniversary with a special Worship Service:

  • Grace Sermon 09/18/2011: Listen to Bishop S. John Roth speaking on "Living Stones"
  • One Worship Service at 10 AM
  • Special Music composed by Dr. Chester Alwes
  • Meal following the service
  • Presentation of interviews with long-time Grace members

On Sunday, May 15th, Grace was honored by having former Pastor Richard Jessen return to Grace to preach.

Richard Jessen is a native of Iowa, and a graduate of Macalester College and Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary, Maywood, IL.  He and Glenda were married in 1957.  They have three children; Vicki, Rick and Lori, and five grandchildren.  Prior to serving Grace Lutheran Church, Pastor Jessen served Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicago.  Later he served on the staff of the Illinois Synod of the Lutheran Church in America, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights, IL, First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, IA, and finally as Bishop of the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America from 1990 - 2000.  In retirement Glenda and he spend summers in Wisconsin and winters in Arizona.
